About Us (me)
Hi I'm Donna - the heart (and sweet tooth!) behind Bellomonte Biscuits.
I'm married with two beautiful daughters and we live on the Central Coast in NSW. I grew up in western Sydney in a big, loud loving family where meals weren't just about eating - they were about connection. My dad is one of four children and my mum is one of ten, so between them I had over 25 first cousins making any family gathering feel more like a mini festival filled with food, laughter and love. My Maltese roots play a big part in my cooking journey. Mum always had something baking and could make a meal out of nothing. My grandmother worked in a bakery back in Malta and had this magical way of feeding people - no matter how many showed up, she somehow could make a meal stretch to feed everyone. My grandmother passed down not just recipes, but the joy of cooking with love and sharing it with others.
As the youngest sibling (with an older brother and sister) and the second youngest of all my cousins, I got to grow up surrounded by all that food, culture and music. Those experiences shaped who I am today - someone who doesn't cook to live but truly lives to cook. So in May of 2021, I decided it was time for me to turn my passion into my business and share my baking with Australia.
I have a very, very sweet tooth and I believe every bite should bring comfort, nostalgia and happiness. When I'm not baking, you'll probably find me enjoying a coffee at the local beach cafe or watching old movies, listening to old-school music (Beach Boys or Frankie Valli and the four seasons with a little RnB thrown in just to mix it up a little) or watching re-runs of Beverly Hills 90210 and Gilmore Girls.
Bellomonte Biscuits (yes a play on my surname Montebello) is more than just a business - it's a little piece of my family history, my passion and my heart, baked fresh for you. I hope you enjoy my cookies as much as I do!
